Kali ma ki … Jai!!! Kali ma ki …. Jai!!! This was our slogan throughout the river rafting trip on the Kali. Hello everyone! This is Mo😉. Today I will share my experience of Kali river rafting and our Dandeli Trip Experience.
It had been a couple of years, and I hadn’t met my hostel friends. One day one of my hostel friends called me and informed me that after many years we were planning to get together at Dandeli. Without any further ado, I said YES! To the plan.
THE JOURNEY
Since everyone was busy at work, we planned to meet on Saturday. I finished my work early and took my friend on the way to the Yesvantpur JN railway station🚉 in Bengaluru. We met a couple of other friends at the railway station and boarded our train, which was on the platform. The train left the station at 9:00 p.m.
Within half an hour, we got to know that we were hungry😋, and we called our friends who were joining us from Tumakur🚉. Some of them ordered pizza, Lemon rice, Tamarind rice (Puliyogare), veggie pulao, idli, etc. It was 10:00 p.m., and when we arrived at Tumakur, our eyes were on the food packets. Of course, we greeted our friends😂.
We had our tasty meal, and we were back to our golden days at the hostel. It was just bliss. Those were the good old days. By that time, it was 2:00 AM. One of our friends suggested taking a rest for a while. But you know the result: we neglected it and continued our discussions.
It was 4:30 AM, and we had arrived at our destination, Dharwad Railway🚉. We were out of the railway station and informed our friend about our arrival at the Dharwad via phone call.
He arrived after a while and took us to his room. We got freshened up, and we had a surprise when one of our friends joined us from Mangalore here. Our TT (Tempo traveller) arrived, we loaded our luggage on it, and we left Dharwad for our Mission Dandeli.
MISSION DANDELI
After a couple of stops for breakfast, snacks, tea, and many other We arrived at our destination, Dandeli. Three more friends joined us, and we went to the resort "River Point".
We booked our tent⛺ stay on the bank of the beautiful Kali River. We settled into our rooms, and then we were ready for our river rafting mission. In between, we had a group of thirteen friends by that time (some of whom couldn’t join because of their reasons).
We arrived at our rafting spot, and we divided ourselves into two raft boats. We took the lifejackets, helmets, and raft paddles and entered the rafting boat. Our rafting Leader gave us instructions about the lifejackets and helmets, how to use the paddles, and what to do and not do when we fell from the boat during rafting. We started our rafting, and even though it was a short distance, we got two beautiful tides. We enjoyed it. Three of our friends fell during the rafting, and we rescued them.
Once we finished our rafting, we were back at the resort. We had our lunch and took a couple of hours' rest. It was 3:30 PM. The swimming pool was open. All of us jumped into the pool, Played a lot of games, and enjoyed it to the fullest. It was 5:30 PM when we left the pool, freshened up, and went to have snacks along with coffee or tea. After this, I and one of my friends decided to look out over the town of Dandeli. We took the bicycles🚲 and went for an evening ride, and we witnessed one of the most beautiful sunsets in the Dandeli. Once it started turning dark, we returned to our stay.
We had a campfire out there. We circled it, ordered some snacks, and started our chit-chatting. After a couple of hours, we went to a rain dance, and some of them danced and others were just spectators. Later that night, we stayed in the tent; it was too good with the ambiance.
We woke up early in the morning and saw the sunrise on the river bank. We had our breakfast in the stay and left the stay, To head towards Dharwad.
Bounty
While I went cycling in the evening, I noticed a few things:- The city is small, but happy faces are everywhere.
- They have a paper factory where most of them work.
- Tourism is the main source of income for the people.
My curiosity about the Kali River led me to do some research online, and here are my findings. In the western ghats, the Kali River originates near the Kushavali village of Joida Taluk and flows through Uttara Kannada. The river has an important dam called Supa Dam, This dam is responsible for the water flow level in the Dandeli. At its end, the river flows into the Arabian Sea.
