We woke up early in the morning, thanks to our motivation. We finished our daily routine and had Sabudhana kichadi, Poha, and Jeelabi breakfast, then headed towards the bus stop via auto. We got into the bus and headed towards Ujjain. On the bus, we planned for our next day's trip, which is Mandu, and we booked a cab to it for our stay.

Ujjain: JAI MAHAKAL

After one hour and thirty minutes of the journey, we reached our destination, which was Ujjain. We took an auto to reach Mahakaleshwar temple. Before visiting the temple, we found Kulfi stores. We took Kulfi to one of the stores, and it was delicious. We headed towards Mahakaleshwar temple. We visited Bade Ganeshji Mandir. This temple is dedicated to the god Ganesha. It is a popular spot for devotees to seek blessings and is located near Mahakaleshwar temple.

Mahakaleshwar temple

Mahakaleshwar temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, which are the holiest of Shiva's abodes. The temple is situated on the banks of the Narmada River. The Mahakaleshwar temple was built in the 11th century. The temple complex is massive and includes several temples and other religious sites. The main temple is a high-spired temple made of white marble. The temple houses a giant lingam (an aniconic representation of Shiva) that is 12 feet tall.

The temple has different entry fees for visitors. Since we visited it on a weekday, we opted for free entry. There were a good number of devotees, and it was a bit crowded. We completed our rituals in the temple. Then we hired an autorickshaw to room in Ujjain. We headed towards Maharishi Sandipani Ashram.

Maharishi Sandipani Ashram

The ashram is said to be very old, and it is believed that Krishna and Balarama studied here for many years. The ashram has several temples and shrines, including one dedicated to Maharishi Sandipani. There is also a large library with a collection of religious texts.

Maharishi Sandipani Ashram

The ashram is a popular pilgrimage destination for Hindus, and it is also a popular place for tourists. Visitors can learn about the history of the ashram and the teachings of Maharishi Sandipani. They can also take part in religious ceremonies and meditation sessions.

The ashram is a peaceful and serene place, and it is a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Visitors can relax in the gardens, take a walk by the river, or simply sit and meditate. The ashram is a great place to find peace and tranquility.

Fascinating information

The Vidyarambh ceremony of Lord Krishna took place in this Ashram. In this ashram, Shri Krishna took 64 days of education. During this period, he has learned 14 Vidyas and 64 arts.

Inside the ashram, there is an old Shiva linga called Sarveshwar Mahadev, which was worshipped by Guru Sandipani and his disciples.

  • This is the only place where you can notice Lord Krishna reading a book.
  • In this place, you can notice Nandi standing in front of the Shiva temple rather than sitting.

We visited Mangalnath Temple and performed Mangala Pooja.

It is regarded as the birthplace of Mars (Mangala in Hindi), according to the Matsya Purana. Famous for a clear view of the planet and hence suitable for astronomical studies. Mahant Rajendra Bharti is the official Gadipati of the Mangalnath Temple.

The ghat is believed to be the place where Lord Rama bathed after performing the last rites of his father, King Dasharatha.

Shree Ram Ghat

The ghat offers stunning views of the Shipra River and the surrounding city of Ujjain. You can also enjoy a boat ride on the river or simply relax on the banks of the ghat. We witnessed one of the most beautiful sunsets on the Shree Ram Ghat and relaxed on the ghat for a while.

Once the sunset is done, we head towards the Mahakal corridor.
